Hear Me Out

Written April 1, 2010

my eyes will betray me
every day of the week.
short of breath,
for a moment,
and I realize—

I’m not as together
as I envision.

don’t get the wrong idea.
all the words I plan to say,
may not correspond at all
to the message my face sends.
I know, it’s complicated—
and I shouldn’t want
to complicate it further—
but I won’t deny
anything I’ve thought.

I don’t know what the hell I’m doing.

but be patient, please,
as I do what I am,
and hope that whatever actions
I commit to are right.

I say I’m done with fear,
and fuck inhibitions,
yet they hold me back
from being honest
with the
one
person
who I want—
to hear me out.
