The State of Disorder

Please don’t address me
I don’t really like it
Are you able to see
The pain in my eyes?

In a classroom setting
Is where I belong
I can’t believe I’m letting
This happen to me.

Miss Duffy is my name
Or at least it lets me breathe
There is no one here to blame
Unless you’re counting me.

My thoughts are disorganized
Can you find your way?
Have you realized
That I’m not all right?

You’re allowed to forget
I adjusted long ago
When your standards aren’t met
Funny how you remember.

It’s the least I can do
Since I’m not totally heartless
You know, I care about you
Can you do that for me?
