a good brain need not be
exclusive of a little vanity.
peep-toe pumps clicking through corridors,
feminine dresses writing the final exam.
watching runways with Schrodinger’s equation,
electrons exciting for feeling pretty elation.
a logical mind need not evade
the matters of expressed emotion.
pens sweep notebook pages of chemistry:
love is shared or a compromise of charges?
write orbital analogies explaining attraction;
heart and science seek a balance of two equal fractions.
a demander of evidence need not deny
that there is one trump: magic.
a ten-year escape to a world once unreal,
has become a reality not quite tangible;
yet despite all our progress we cannot surpass
the beauty of this bond that is bound to last.
