A Node Between Us

Written December 22, 2010

I bet you thought
I didn’t deserve you;
somehow, you’re above me.

I fed into your complex,
convinced of my inferiority,
and quietly reveled in
every moment you’d agree
to spend with me.

now my hoodwink is off,
and I can see:

you don’t respect me
at any level that matters.
easy to reciprocate
that sentiment,
now that I know.

our orbitals aren’t aligning,
and all our collisions
shall be a needed miss;

no, there isn’t chemistry
beyond my nerves.
