Can’t Say No
Written January 2, 2011
vague words and uncertainties
serve little purpose other than
to enable my nervous evasion:
listen, I just can’t say, “No.”
no explicit expression that you
desire a romantic connection,
but I think I can tell that you do;
I’m sorry if I’m leading you on.
there’s just no chemistry here,
but I appreciated your gesture.
it’s just better for both of us if
I don’t go into what I don’t feel.
listen: you’re interesting to talk to,
and we might do well as friends,
but please don’t get your hopes up,
when I’m just not feeling it for you.
