Disorder

Open the door and the light floods over you.
Your heat is lost to the coolness inside,
but maybe it’s not thermodynamics chilling you…

Your eyes fall on the label,
saying not what it always does.
You stop. You freeze.
Maybe you can’t do this.
You’re not allowed.

Don’t you believe in the second law?
In your mad race for control,
for some order in your life,
have you forgotten,
the science will always win?

You’re trying to calculate entropy,
and you’re screwed.

You’re screwed because
you’ve convinced yourself that there’s a limit,
a boundary you don’t have to cross.
But you’re falling over another edge.

The universe forbids
such discipline
to last.
