Bring It
Written December 19, 2009
All I’ve done is show up.
Watching the fear swim in their eyes,
the people facing their daily struggles,
I am merely a spectator.
Busy busy busy is what they are,
and I, I can only say, “Present!”
Life has not been a game I’ve played.
It must seem unfair that the officials
have made so many calls in my favor.
What have I been doing?
How did I arrive here?
Almost two decades is a long time
to let the Maker of All Things
run all the plays for me.
Well, here I am, Lord:
Body and Mind, too.
Here I am, everyone.
You’re not responsible for me anymore;
I will now begin to live.
