it’s a stigma they avoid,
smothered by man’s laws.

a sweeping glance,
their breath not devoid
of heavier things.

current between them,
a spinning magnet,
a field of no finite source.
two beings, equal,
but not the same,
forbidden to meet.

circumstances thwart—

so they return to their partners,
and wait,
for men to allow

—this attraction.
